ROUND 3

And then there were four...

Demonica(Chris Young) vs. Jason(Evan Lougheed)

Firsthand witnesses still speak of the titanic battle that ensued between the crafty Lahmian Demonica and the mighty Strigoi Jason. The Vampire Lords met on the field of battle just after the sun had set.

In the first of what seemed to be an unending series of attacks on one another, the powerful Jason began things with a magic attack using spells from the Lore of Death. The Lahmian defended and then launched her own arcane assault using her Necromantic spells. With powerful defenses, both Dark Lords fought off the majority of damage from their opponents spells. Finally, Jason moved up and engaged Demonica and Serpentor in close combat. Almost before it started it was over as Jason fell to an un-saved(ward 5+) Hand of Dust.

Ready for a second battle, Demonica and Serpentor began with another barrage of magic missiles that sent Jason reeling. An Invocation of Nehek later and, Demonica had 5 skeleton allies to keep Serpentor company . The Strigoi Vampire tried to retaliate but his ability to harness the Dark Winds of Magic deserted him when he needed them the most. Unable to cast spells, Jason decided to do what he does best, fight! Lost Innocence gave Demonica the first attack but without the dreaded Hand of Dust, the Strigoi had plenty of energy to fight back this time. When the wily Jason engaged the small unit and elected to attack the skeletons instead of their master, the combat resolution was almost Demonica's undoing. Demonica's Lost Innocence did not help her this time as the Strigoi's Infinite Hatred allowed him to send the Lahmian back into the ground.

The final battle... Again the Vampire Lords used their magic to little avail. Demonica's bout of stupidity caused by the Crown of the Damned allowed Jason to move into combat range without resistance. Demonica's Lost Innocence allowed her to strike first when Jason charged but the Strigoi ward save and the Curse of the Revenant's regeneration allowed Jason the opportunity to fight back. Fear was on the face of Demonica as Jason hit for all six of his attacks. Fortunately for the little vampire and her snake, her toughness and ward save kept her from reentering Death's domain. Amazingly enough, the hand-to-hand combat between these two Undead monsters went on turn after turn. Finally after what seemed to be an eternity, the Lahmian Demonica and her warrior familiar Serpentor vanquished the hate-filled Strigoi Jason with a flurry of flesh piercing blows. Congratulations go out to both combatants for their game-play, effort, and sportsmanship!

WINNER: DEMONICA !!!

Zemanski(John Matthews) vs. Anastasio(Ty Finocchiaro)

"The first round began with Zemanski moving forward and raising 12 skeletons. They were placed directly in front of my Strigoi which meant there would be no Wind Of Death this round! I was relying heavily on using this as a way to whittle down wounds before close combat. I charged the skeletons on my turn and killed all but one. Zemanski continued to move forward during his turn and I got rid of the final skeleton in hand to hand combat. I decided to just charge the Blood Dragon, which turned out to be a big mistake! I needed 5's to hit him and fours to wound due to magic items. Needless to say I was in trouble. Battle went back and forth for a few turns , and John eventually raising skeletons to aid his combat resolution score. I just couldn't hold out! In the end I caused only 1 wound, but regenerated a ton of wounds along the way!"

"Round Two went much the same way, except that I got off two Wind of Death spells with Irresistible Forcethat caused two wounds. In close combat, I actually managed to kill the Blood Dragon before he could strike, but I still lost the combat due to the fact that there were more skeletons than me. All I had to do was regenerate one wound to win, which I of course failed to do, ending the round in a draw."

"Round Three saw me miscast an essential magic roll, causing a wound to myself. Good! More of the same followed, but I did managed to cause another two wounds using Wind of Death before initiating close combat. In hand-to-hand, I was up against 15 skeletons and a Blood Dragon. I held out for a while, but more skeletons appeared and I was swamped with too many wounds! I just couldn't regenerate fast enough!"

John had a very effective Vampire that took away the edge from all my bonuses. I just couldn't beat the man in close combat! Oh well."

- as told by Ty, Anastasio's keeper
