Brief Army Overview
I chose this list after lots of experimenting with various approaches. I
tried a more "go get them" list with giants. I
tried the casket. I tried more shooting. What I have
come up with is a list that has a great deal of mutual support
built in, not only between the units of troops, but also between
the characters and the troops. This is key to Tomb Kings – you
cannot rely on characters OR regiments (or war machines for that
matter) to win the day. Everything must work in concert.
A special mention must go to the 20 Skeleton Warriors bowmen. When
I play them as 30 in the unit, I add a standard bearer. At
20 or less I do not. The Skeleton Warriors simply do not have the staying
power in combat at a small unit size, and I cannot waste incantations
rebuilding them. Thus, once they get in combat they almost
always crumble eventually. Giving up the 100 victory points
for the banner is not worth it. Some have suggested I give
the Skeleton Warriors armour and a shield to make them last. There are two
reasons I do not do this. First – with that much equipment
you are better off getting Tomb Guard. Second– these
are missile troops. I don’t want them in combat. If
they get into combat I have done something wrong.
