Cropping up in the dark areas of the world like tumorous
growths are numerous Skaven Warren entrances. These gateways
are often well hidden, and they provide access to the twisted
underground network of Skaven tunnels that infest all the
lands of the Old World. Often, the best places for these Warren
entrances are in dank caves and along forgotten tunnels where
prying eyes are few.
The Skaven zealously guard these entrances to their secret
realm. They have fortified these gateways with ramshackle
battlements that form a protective ring around the gap in
the earth that leads to their even-deeper underground network.
To assault one of these thresholds is to court death. Warren
entrances are located in excellent natural defensive positions
that deny an army its full strength. Piecemeal attacks are
the only option, and these can be handled by the Skaven at
their leisure. Endless seas of Giant Rats well up from the
earth as Jezzail fire rains down on would-be attackers. Rat
Ogres stop mainline advances cold, and the innumerable hordes
of Slaves choke any breach in the walls. More often than not,
the only way to eliminate a Skaven Warren entrance is to collapse
the cavern around it and leave the vermin to dig their way
out, if they can.
In this article, we'll show you how to build a simple Skaven
Warren so that you can fight desperate battles on the tabletop
around one. Plenty of photos will help guide you along as
you construct your terrain. Simply gather the necessary items
below (substitute any materials as you see fit), clear off
a spot on your workbench, and work your way from left to right
across the navigation bar below.
