Gideon (the over-excited young man on the right) and I (Ty, on the left) set out to create a fun set of pitfighting rules that would allow for plenty of variation and tons of modeling choices. The result is contained within these pages, and we like to think that they are a success. Rat Ogre pitfights are a spectacle few, if any, have witnessed in the Old World. Now is your chance to take on the role of a Master Moulder and claw your way to the top, creating some of the meanest fighting machines mother nature never intended!

Rat Ogre pitfights can be played as one-off games using a specified amount of gold for each player to build a force with. Then, all you have to do is bash it out in the pits! But the real fun in the game is twisting your creations into monstrous killing machines that terrorize you friends over a full fledged season of carnage! This method is done by modifying your monsters after each trip to the pits with new limbs, bionics, and other devious items. The possibilities are many and complex, opening some doors to interesting modeling ideas.

As a bonus, we even have a few pages covering the evolving careers of our critters and their trials in the pits. So check out the Sample Season link below if you are interested in getting the inside track on just how to run your force of creatures (or how not to!) through a season.

Keep in mind that if you have a rules query that can't be resolved during play, roll a D6 and decide that way. After the game, discuss the problem logically and come to a decision. The rules were written for a fun gameplay experience and every niggling situation obviously can not be predicted. So use your best judgment and amend any rule as you see fit. Make up new rules, add some mutations to the list, and create your own unique characters if you wish. After all, we're talking about Skaven here, and everyone knows they don't play by the rules anyway!

Well, enough of the talk, let's get right to it. Below are some links to the various rules and such that will be necessary to play. Browse each area to get a general gist of the rules, then download the rules in full along with the essential play sheets from the Download section. Next, phone up your friends, introduce them to the rules, and get everyone thinking about their own personal horde of foul abominations. Before you know it, a competitive season will be in full swing!

Who are these people? Well, Gideon works plenty hard in the online store keeping things under control, while Ty updates the site and helps provide fresh, delicious content like these pitfighting rules! We like to read feedback from players, so if you have some questions, ideas, stories, etc... E-mail us at Nurgle@games-workshop.com
