Gnoblars can be found throughout the
Ogre Kingdoms. Therefore, you better learn how to
paint the little guys if you want to field an Ogre
army. However, given their small size, Gnoblars are
actually a snap to paint. The average Gnoblar model
is made of only a bit of ragged clothing, some flesh,
and a few improvised weapons. In short (get it?),
these small models are fun to paint.
Follow the detailed instructions
and check out the stage-by-stage images for reference
as you paint your models. Don't fret if the model
doesn't come out picture perfect in the end; painting
takes time and practice to master. Just do the best
you can each time and be open to learning new techniques
from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an
accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to
game with!

Undercoat your
model with Chaos Black. Remember that a good basecoat
is the first step toward a nice miniature. Carefully
paint the skin with Catachan Green. The Gnoblar clothing
colours
are really up to you. To duplicate this example, basecoat
the clothing with Scab Red (we painted this particular
Gnoblar to match the Bull
Ogre guide). Paint the pants, wrappings, claws,
teeth, belt, and weapon hafts with Scorched Brown. |

Time to start
highlighting. Use a watered-down, 2:3 mix of Catachan
Green to Fortress Grey and highlight the Gnoblar's skin.
Pick out raised areas like the bridge of the nose, nostrils,
ears, and musculature. Water down some Dark Flesh and
highlight the pants, weapon haft, and wrappings. Highlight
the shirt with a watered-down, 1:1 mix of Blood Red to
Scab Red. |
|
| 3 |
Grab
Graveyard Earth and apply a quick highlight to the wrappings.
Next, add a drop of Chaos Black to Boltgun Metal and
paint any weaponry with this mix. Once you are done
with this step, change your water! |

Water
down some Brown Ink and apply it to any metallic areas
in order to create a rusted look. Wait for this coat
to dry, then carefully paint the Gnoblar's tongue with
Scab Red. |

Finish up
the Gnoblar's skin by adding more Fortress Grey to the
mix used in Step 2. This time, only pick out a few prominent
raised areas for the highlight. Paint the teeth, claws,
and highlight the wrappings with Kommando Khaki one
more time. Add a quick highlight of Blood Red to the
tongue and shirt. Finally, clean up any of the inked
metals with Boltgun Metal. Once you get the hang of
painting Gnoblars, you can crank them out at a furious
pace! |
