Ogres
love a good fight and the Gut Olympics
are a perfect opportunity for some biff! |
Pete
Haines takes a long run
up at the topic of Ogre gutbarging,
a subject close to
any Ogre’s heart. Just below
it, in fact. Meanwhile, Jake
Thornton also looks at
another favourite of the
Ogres, but not necessarily
the Gnoblars, Punt-a-runt.
Gut-barging is almost certainly one
of the most popular sports
amongst Ogres and is often used
as a way of settling disputes between Bulls. There
are many local variants,
some of which are closer to being pitfights,
but traditional gut-barging is
instantly recognisable by the gut trench
in which it is conducted.
Punt-a-runt can be played over any
reasonably clear field, and is often part
of the victory celebrations after a
battle. In fact, playing over a battlefield
with its piles of dead and dying offers
an excellent opportunity to grab a
snack whilst waiting for your turn. It’s a
competition to see who has the best
boot and can punt the wriggly little
fellers the furthest with a few interesting complications
