Once your models have a basecoat, painting can begin. Below, you will find a simple-but-effective colour scheme using only 10 colours. Follow the detailed instructions and check out the stage-by-stage images for reference as you paint your models. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture-perfect in the end; painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to game with!
WE USED THE FOLLOWING CITADEL PAINTS:

1 Start things off by drybrushing the entire model with Ultramarines Blue. Lay it on pretty thick to the skin and scales. Don't worry about getting it all over the place; this is a basecoat after all!

2 Water down some Lightning Blue and pick out the Skink's skin. Leave the recessed areas alone and concentrate on the raised areas. Go back and neaten up the scales with Ultramarines Blue.

3

Mix a bit of Lightning Blue with Ice Blue as a highlight colour. Carefully apply this mix to the raised areas of skin. Watering the paint down will make the larger ares of the skin easier to complete. Paint any jewelry Chaos Black before going over it with Brazen Brass. Paint the javelin tip Boltgun Metal and the haft Scorched Brown.

4

Add final selective highlights to the face and other focal points of the Skink with Ice Blue. Paint over the Brazen Brass areas with Shining Gold. Pick out the claws and teeth with Kommando Khaki.

5 Carefully drop a tiny dot of Blood Red into the eye socket. Water down a bit of Chestnut Ink and apply it to the javelin tip. Your Skink is now ready for action!

Now that your models are painted, it's time to test them in battle!

Next: Your first battle!
