The Tasmanian State Championships were held earlier this year. Tassie Hobbyist Jamie Downward walked away with the Players Choice army award. Not bad for someone who used to pay his mates to paint his armies!
Introduction All this originally started 14 years ago when a good friend, Craig Woodfield, came back from England and introduced me to a game called Warhammer. Since then I have never looked back. Over the years I have collected a number of armies and really enjoy trying to improve my painting. When I first started Warhammer I paid one of my friends to paint my miniatures, as my first attempts were terrible. I have had a lot practise since then and think now I have reached a reasonable standard. I was inspired to start collecting Chaos about two years ago after playing in a local tournament. At the time I was using a High Elf army which I had some success with but during this tournament I played against a Chaos army for the first time under the new rules. I was impressed by the versatility of Chaos and the design of the miniatures. The release of the Beastman Army Book and the Hellcannon from the Storm of Chaos Campaign allowed a wider choice for rare and uncommon choice in units. AN UNEASY ALLIANCE The background for this army was for the first Tasmanian State Title Tournament. Some miniatures shown are extras to the war host used in Hobart. It had been a month since the host of Archaon fell at the hands of the Green Skins and mere mortal men at Middenheim. Since then the once mighty war host has scattered, fighting anything they come across. This is a time of true Chaos where enemies and glories abound. The war host of Asgeir has been severely reduced in number since the beginning of the campaign and only a few warriors remain. Over a year ago the mighty war host left the village of Skadistad in many longships, hearing the call of the Chaos Gods. Then there were over a hundred Chaos Warriors with several hundred Chaos Marauders and even a large number of Dragon Ogres that had ventured out of the Skadi Mountains to answer the call to war. Now the once mighty force is reduced to what lies before you, with only a few of the greatest warriors left and the mighty Shaggoth. In the continual battles since Middenheim there has ben only one alliance made to fight the armies still wandering this desolate region. This second war host joined the force after a challenge to see who was worthy to lead. The fight with the Khorne Berserker was short and bloody with him being no match for Asgeir. While the corpse of the Chosen of Khorne was still steaming and the blood soaking into the ground, Asgeir took his rightful place at the head of the newly formed war host. Though still small in number, it now consisted of the unpredictable but useful bloodthirsty warriors of Khorne. For now they continue to bring glory to the Gods by sowing chaos in this region and increasing their power through the defeat and sacrifice of enemies.
