The battle report featured in White Dwarf (UK) 266 between
the army of the High Elves and the forces of Undead commanded
by Mark Raynor and Alessio Cavatore presented an ideal opportunity
to continue with the Undead / High Elf theme online.
The Anulii Patrol scenario from the back of the new Warhammer
Armies: High Elves would be used for the game. Mark would
command the High Elves. A twist was added in that the monsters
in the scenario would be represented entirely by Undead creatures
and Anthony Reynolds, Assistant Games Developer, would command
them. As Anthony was using much less powerful models than
the monsters in the scenario, we allowed him to have the same
amount of points as Mark when he was choosing his force.
The story, in short, goes that the wounded had stopped off
at an outpost to rest and recuperate after fighting on Albion.
They are about to set off and rejoin the main High Elf force
assaulting the Undead army (the White Dwarf battle report),
when they are set upon by an Undead scouting force.

The half dead bleeding sentry burst through the door of
the watch tower and collapsed on the decking, a foul bat pinned
to the back of his neck.
"Flee! They are coming…" he groaned, before
his life drained away.
Killing the vampire bat with a swipe of his sword, Commander
Dalthimar looked out through the door of the watch tower.
The woods and hills of the Anulii seemed to have come eerily
to life before his eyes as vicious snarling wolves, swarms
of long-fanged bats and hideous ghastly apparitions surged
forward mere yards from the steps of the tower.
"To arms my fellow defenders of Ulthuan!" he
ordered.
The Guardians of the tower and the wounded they were tending
suddenly sprang to life, strapping on armour, grabbing their
pole arms and axes and rushing out the door to bravely face
the tide of filth approaching the gleaming citadel. Grim determination
lit their eyes like an eldritch fire.
Dalthimar mounted his horse outside the tower and brought
it around to face the mass of undead monstrosities.
"You fought the legions of Chaos on Albion and bested
them.'' He bellowed to his brave troops, ''Cast aside your
pain and fever, for Ulthuan needs you once more!"
