As a devoted Warhammer Dwarfs general with a strong desire to crush my opponents, I purchase all of the Warhammer Armies books and give them a thorough read through so that I “know my enemies." Of course, unless you actually play a certain army, or at the very least play regularly against someone who does, your research can only give you so much insight. Unfortunately for me, when it comes to The Empire and its Detachment System, I neither play with this army and have seldom had the pleasure of facing an Empire General using detachments on the battlefield. It has been a while since the last version of Warhammer Armies: The Empire came out, and my knowledge of the Detachment System has suffered. Mostly, I have to believe what my opponent says when I ask, "What does that Empire thing do again?"
