The devious mind of the average
Skaven Warlord seems to have no limits when it
comes
to cruelty and disregard for his servant's
lives. Case in point: the Bomb Rat. This devious
little surprise was conceived by Warlord Grizzak
who had grown frustrated by the combination of
too many armoured opponents and the futility of
his
own troops.
After
slaying several Giant Rats nearby in a blind rage,
an idea hit him. Immediately, he set his best
Engineers
and Moulder servants to work on his idea. Thus,
the Bomb Rat was born.
It is a scourge to both friend and foe alike.
The mechanics of the Bomb Rat idea are simple enough,
though wildly varied.
Strap
a
makeshift bomb on a giant rat, send it in the general
direction of your enemy, and hope for the best.
Better specimens of rat are actually trained to
go in the right direction, while others scurry
back
towards their own creators with disastrous results.
Other examples of refinement of this creation
include:
improved timers, remote detonation devices, warpstone
shards, and pressure-sensitive triggers. Unreliable
at best, the Skaven Rat Bomb is a hazard to everyone
around it. However, when one does find the enemy
by chance, the results
are more than worth it in the mind of your average
Skaven Warlord. |
Any Skaven Clan Rat unit may have up to three Bomb
Rats within its ranks, so long as both Clan Moulder
and
Clan Skryre are represented in the army. Bomb Rats
have the same stats as a standard Giant
Rat for purposes of shooting.
Unleash the Rats. Bomb Rats
may be released at the start of the Skaven player's
Movement Phase and do not affect the movement of
the unit from which they are launched. The rat
scurries
in the direction of the player's choosing for D6+4".
If this distance carries it into an enemy unit,
apply a blast
against that unit. If a 1 is rolled, stop right
there; the Bomb Rat went off way too early. Apply
a blast against the Skaven unit and check for Panic
as normal. Otherwise, the Bomb Rat will now move
D6+4" towards the nearest unit, friend or
foe, at the start of each players' Movement Phase.
Remove
the Bomb Rat if a 1 is rolled for this movement.
If wounded by missile
fire, remove the Bomb Rat from play.
Ka-Boom! Bomb Rat
blasts
cause D3 S5 hits with an armour modifier of
-3. |
