PAINTING WORKSHOP

John Shaffer: Painting The New Beastmen Plastics

John Shaffer seemingly can't get enough of the foul goat-headed creatures. Check out how he painted his latest unit of the new Beastmen fairly quickly and with great results.

Usually, John paints over a black undercoat, because it provides easy black lining and shading of recessed areas - two steps that are a time consuming endeavor when working over a white undercoat. The new Beastmen models are mostly skin, and John wanted to paint the skin of his Beastmen brown. Thus, he decided to try something new when painting his latest Beast herd.

To decrease the time spend on painting the skin of his Beastmen, John began by trying out a Bestial Brown undercoat for is models. Confident that this new approach would yield great results, John gathered his paints and set about painting a test model for his newest Beast herd.
