A small community of humans living on the backwater planet of Tikgrix stumbled onto a strange and ultimately unfortunate find. While digging the foundation for a new dwelling on the outskirts of the village, workers’ tools struck upon a large, solid object in the dirt. Further clearing of the soil revealed the obstruction to be larger than expected and not of any geological design. As impossible as it seemed, the thing appeared to be only the corner of an immense cube – most of it was still buried underground. Even partially exposed, it was obvious that the object was semi-translucent, smooth as glass with no visible joins, and deep amber in colour. Work on the dwelling halted and workers managed to excavate the cube in no time, such was their curiosity. Hundreds gathered around to see the cube, and that’s when it woke up.

A red light swirled into existence deep within the alien object, followed by a voice that reverberated within each and every soul present. Since that dark day, the village has been enslaved by the cruel and ancient Daemon trapped within the cube. For hundreds of years, this cursed population has been bound to fulfill every sadistic, heartless, black, and bloodthirsty desire issued from the beast within the cube. Eventually, a psyker was born among the populace. This rather unfortunate being was molded for years by the Daemon and eventually used as a vessel to communicate off planet with the Powers of Chaos.

The call heard, a small strike force of Chaos Space Marines was dispatched. Led by a Lieutenant trained in the arts of the Warp, they seek to destroy the millennia-old prison and free the Daemon within. Soon, the trapped entity will rule this world with its full powers at its disposal so that it may transform the planet into a true Daemon World.

However, an Inquisitor has been secretly trailing this Chaos force from planet to planet with a hastily gathered group of Inducted Imperial soldiers. Thinking this mission a routine cult purging, the Inquisitor was taken aback when, just prior to landing, he felt the horrid presence in his mind of the powerful Daemon-inhabited cube. Under strength and unprepared for such horrors, his force must immediately halt the Chaos Lieutenant’s work at all costs. The trapped Daemon will be dealt with later when a strong-enough cell of Inquisitors or Grey Knights can be gathered.
