Jake:
For the most part, this game went
according to plan. However, there were times
when I was sweating bullets! My Infiltrators
did their job well and took out some Guardsmen
and most of the lascannons, but I was surprised
at how easily they dropped after a heavy concentration
of lasguns fired their way. Once my Plague Marines
got within bolter range of the Guardsmen, I
felt the game was in the bag. However, for the
better part of the game, I kept looking at the
uneven casualty piles. Bryan's Stormtroopers
were scary-effective – BS 4 and the 4+
save on Guardsmen should not be under estimated.
In the end, though, when the Greater Daemon
heard my prayers and shifted the tide of the
battle, the Stormtroopers (and everyone else)
were among the casualties.

Bryan:
I would like to blame the Imperial Guard's
many disadvantages against Plague Marines
for my
loss, but the reality is that my lowly ground-pounders
performed well against the Nurgle traitors.
Especially my Stormtroopers from now on,
I'm taking more of these tough guys whenever
I field
an Inquisitorial or IG force. No, my real problems
stemmed from my inability to manoeuvre freely.
Jake threw me off balance with his Infiltrators,
and I had to waste precious time dealing with
them. Worse, my 2nd Squad of Guardsmen (they
were supposed to be my "meat shields") fell
under the influence of the Cube just as they
entered the bottleneck between buildings. Forgetting
that could happen, I foolishly spaced them
out
within this corridor so none of my other units
could slip by if the Guardsmen stopped to
drool
at the Cube. Thus, the 2nd Squad blocked my
main movement corridor before even absorbing
a bolter round! Speed was essential to victory
in this mission, and those two monkey wrenches
slowed me down enough that even Severus's valiant
combat at the end wasn't enough to stop the
Daemon. Sorry, Daemonhunters, I let you down.
Oh well – there's always Exterminatus.
Admiral Ravensburg, target Tikgrix and launch
the virus bombs!
