Jake Landis |
Jake: After reading
over the scenario, I knew the most important roll
of the game would be the one to pick Deployment Zones.
Having to place my Lieutenant before I knew which
side the enemy was coming from was pretty much a coin
toss. Either my Lieutenant is going to be able to
use the cube as a shield to hide behind, or he will
be pinned against it like a game of commando dodge
ball. After I lost the deployment roll, I praised
the Chaos Gods that I had first turn. I hoped it would
give me the chance to run and hide before the Lieutenant
got lit up by a hundred lasguns. When my chance for
deployment came, I relied greatly on my Infiltrators
to draw some fire away from my Lieutenant. I deployed
my smaller squads on either side of him hoping to
make a sweeping motion toward the middle. Taking out
the lascannons was also top priority. For my other
Troops, I deployed them as close as possible to the
cube while keeping them behind cover so that they
could run up to get within range with bolters. I also
knew that on the assault that my Plague Marines, with
superior Toughness and saves, would tear through Guardsmen.
Engaging Guard in assault would also greatly reduce
the number of squads they could shoot at with unengaged
Guardsmen. After set up, the plan was pretty simple:
do whatever I had to in order to summon the Daemon
from the cube. |
