Now it's time to use your fully assembled (and partially painted) Tyranid Gaunts to play some Warhammer 40,000. This is a really simple scenario that you can play with a friend to introduce the game and get a feel for the flow of play.

Tyranids overrun their enemies with sheer weight of numbers.

- OVERVIEW -

In an effort to improve the horde through natural selection, the Hivemind has set two groups of Gaunts against each other. The winners will have their genetic material added to the next generation of Tyranids, while the losers will be forgotten, their bio-mass reabsorbed to meet the needs of the hive. In short: eat or be eaten.

- ARMIES -

This scenario uses the contents of the Tyranid Gaunts boxed set. Each player controls four Termagants and four Hormagaunts armed however you choose.

- SCENARIO SPECIAL RULES -

Use the Loose Formation and To the Death! special rules.

Loose Formation. Since the scenario is a small combat action, models do not need to follow the Squad Coherency rules. Each model can move wherever it wants!

To the Death! All those involved know death well and do not fear it. You may ignore any and all Morale rules during the game.

- SET UP -

1) Place an appropriate number of ruins, buildings, and other terrain on a 2' x 2' table or area. If you don't have any painted terrain, feel free to use common items as proxies (e.g., that soda can sure looks like a storage tank to me).

2) Roll a D6. The player with the high roll chooses a table edge and places a single model anywhere along that edge. The other player then places a model along the opposite table edge. Alternate placing models until all 10 are in place.

3) Roll a D6. The player with the high roll chooses who takes the 1st turn.

- MISSION OBJECTIVE -

Annihilate the enemy! The last Tyranid player standing is the winner.

- RESERVES -

At the start of a player's 6th turn and each subsequent turn, roll a D6. A roll of 5+ means that another Gaunt has arrived as a reinforcement (drawn from casualties from combat in earlier turns). This model may immediately move into play from anywhere along that player's edge of the table.

- GAME LENGTH -

The game lasts until the Mission Objective has been met.

- LINE OF RETREAT -

You are a Tyranid, devourer of worlds – there is no retreat!
