There are certainly a few different ways a person could go about painting a Tau Fire Warrior. Here, however, we'll focus on how to paint a Fire Warrior using the most common method. Once your model has a solid Chaos Black undercoat, you can start painting. Follow the detailed instructions below and check out the stage-by-stage images for reference as you paint your model. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture-perfect in the end — painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud to deploy in the 41st millennium.

After priming the model with Chaos Black Spray Primer, apply a Scorched Brown basecoat to the armor. Basecoat the clothing with an even mix of Scorched Brown and Chaos Black while making sure to leave the Chaos Black undercoat showing in the recesses of the clothing. Also make sure to leave the Tau symbol on the shoulder, the armor straps, and parts of the rifle showing just the Chaos Black undercoat.

Paint the armor Vomit Brown while taking care to leave the Scorched Brown coat showing in the gaps between the armor plates. Highlight the clothes with straight Scorched Brown, and highlight the armor with an even mix of Vomit Brown and Bleached Bone.

3

Okay, time to finish the highlighting. Carefully edge the armor with a mix of Bleached Bone mixed with a touch of Vomit Brown. Then, use straight Bleached Bone on the small edges of the armor. Highlight the Tau symbol on the shoulder, the armor straps, and the rifle parts with an even mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey. Finish by edging the black areas of the rifle and the Tau symbol with straight Codex Grey.

4

On to the detailing. Paint the circles near the front of the rifle with Burnished Gold. Highlight this circle with an even mix of Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver. Paint the optics on the helmet with Scab Red. Highlight these optics with an even mix of Scab Red and Bleached Bone. Congratulations, you now have a finished Fire Warrior!
