Tau Pathfinders are the eyes and ears of a Cadre's
commander, and coordinate closely with other formations.
Fire Caste doctrine states that a Cadre in the field
should be pulled forward by its Pathfinders, as opposed
to its Pathfinders being pushed forward by the Cadre.
An efficient Pathfinder Team can help other Fire Warrior
Teams operate at peak efficiency and are highly respected
as a consequence. Pathfinders are the undisputed masters
of battlefield positioning, with limitless patience
and
a proud determination to choose the most valuable targets
for others to destroy. Imperial troops who fought in
the Damocles Gulf Crusade described the signature of
the barely visible markerlight beams as the Valkyrie's
Mark, because those it chose were soon numbered amongst
the dead.
The Rail Rifle is an implementation of the technology
utilized in the Railgun that is mounted on vehicles
and Broadside Battlesuits. It has only recently been
authorized for issue to front-line units after completing
an extensive field-testing phase.
You may include a Pathfinder
Team in your Tau army
as a Fast Attack choice. One regular Pathfinder in
a Team may be upgraded to a Shas'ui
team leader. Up to three regular Pathfinders in
a Team may be upgraded to carry Rail
Rifles.
