BIKER SCOUTS -
No article on Space Marine Scouts would be complete without at least a mention of the Scout Bikes. Cheaper than regular Space Marine Bikes, Scout Bikes also differ in three other important ways. First, like their footslogging brethren, Scout Bikes only have a 4+ armour save. Second, Scout Bikes cannot take any special weapons. Third, Scout Bikes can take grenades where normal Space Marine Bikes cannot. Another difference, although somewhat self-evident, is that Scout Bikes cannot Infiltrate like normal Scouts. To offset this lack, Scout Bikes can reroll failed Difficult Terrain tests, which makes them exceptionally good at moving through terrain.

The fact that Scout Bikes can take grenades makes them a viable tank-hunting unit, able to zoom up a flank to attack a tank’s more vulnerable sides or rear. A Veteran Sergeant armed with a plasma pistol or some melta-bombs can turn a unit of Scout Bikes into a fearsome antitank force! The Scout Bike’s high Toughness can help make sure that the unit survives long enough to reach its target, while the high speed of the bike helps avoid any potential trouble spots along the way. Even so, Scout Bikes are a specialized Space Marine unit that is usually best fielded only if you are facing a large number of enemy vehicles, such as an Imperial Guard force or an Ork Kult of Speed army.
