The dense, fertile jungles of the Death World
of Mordin house some of the most unique and
deadly florae found anywhere in the galaxy.
The Mordinian Duplicator is no exception and
is the subject of great interest to field biologists
of the Imperium.
The massive plant, which only flourishes in
the deepest parts of Mordin's jungles, stands
anywhere from 4 to 7 meters tall. It has a bulbous
body crowned with a flower that has a number
of spherical chambers inside. Around what can
only be called the body of the plant are a series
of two to four massive vines which extend away
from the body and are animated by a mysteriously
fast form of turgor pressure.
What makes the specimen so unique is its means
of asexual reproduction. Lashing out with its
massive, vine-like tendrils, the Duplicator
captures unfortunate jungle creatures and deposits
them wholly inside of one of the many chambers
located within the Duplicator's flower-like
top.
Once secured inside a chamber, the hapless
victim's biological matter is immediately broken
down via powerful, corrosive enzymes. This biological
soup is combined with the Duplicator's own DNA
in a rapid process that takes a matter of seconds
to complete.
The Duplicator then condenses and reforms this
material into a seed-like pod that is ejected
from the chamber down to the jungle floor where
it immediately takes root.
