Edward Rusk started out playing Battlefleet Gothic
in 1999 and moved on to Warhammer 40,000 and his Chaos
Space Marines in 2000. He has now amassed an amazing
5,000 points of troops for his army and has been spotted
at two Toronto Grand Tournaments with them. He also
co-authored the Inferno! story Liberation Day.
Here Ed talks about how he uses Daemons to destroy
his foes - over to Ed...

Ed:
Welcome brethren. The forces are gathering and the Gate cannot stop us. Hail Abaddon! Enough pleasantries. Today we turn our mind towards the minions of the Immaterium
Daemons. My focus will be on Daemon Packs and Beasts.
Greater Daemons will be addressed in a later article at some
point in the foggy future (when I get around to it, in other
words). Now, it is not without some trepidation that I write a Tactica
article, as no doubt some things I suggest will be considered
blindingly obvious, others perhaps clever, others silly/useless/
ill-advised. I am also quite certain there are several things
that you clever folk will come up with that I will not mention
or didnt even think about. Some of those will no doubt
point these things out to me in various civil or uncivil fashions
on the Internet in various forums. Such are the risks of going
public on the Net with ones opinions. Plaguebearers and Nurglings The other caveat is that the inherent randomness of Daemon
Summoning makes for less-than-certain battlefield success.
The best tactics in the world will seem for naught if your
Plaguebearers continually scatter 10-12 in the wrong
direction each time you go to deploy them. You can do things
to limit this randomness (see Reduce the Risk
below), or, buy new Scatter dice. So all tactics below assume
that a HIT or inconsequential /favourable scatter
was rolled. Caveat # 3: I do use the New Assault rules found in White
Dwarf for all examples. Click on the links below to learn more about
Hopefully I've given you something useful to think about,
even if you disagree with some of the things Ive said.
I would encourage all Chaos players to try Daemons at some
point as they do make great shock troops and are a truly unique
benefit to the army.
