Abaddon is the Despoiler, the Arch-Fiend whose name
has become a tenfold curse for the ten thousand years
of terror he has rained upon the galaxy he once helped
to conquer in the name of the Emperor.
 As
a Captain in the Lunar Wolves, Abaddon was the chosen
of Horus and was rumoured even to be his clone son.
His dedication to Horus was complete and the effect
on him of his Primarch’s death at the hands of
the Emperor was shattering. Taking the Talon of Horus
as his Icon he began down the road to vengeance. He
reunified the Sons of Horus under his command renaming
them the Black Legion and made pacts with the Infernal
powers for their aid. He took the daemon sword Drach’nyen
from its crypt and with its power at his disposal lead
a succession of Black Crusades out of the Eye of Terror.
Abaddon built his reputation with a series of acts of
almost suicidal bravery, personally leading attacks
into the most heavily defended positions and miraculously
prevailing. Gradually it became accepted that the Gods
of Chaos themselves had shaped his destiny and that
Abaddon was the one who would lead the traitor legions
to redemption through victory.
Worlds have burned as his sacrifice to the Gods of
Chaos. His followers know he will brook no failure and
follow him without question. No other Warmaster can
rival his power and only he has ever been able to command
the obedience of all nine Traitor Legions. He is the
personification of the power of Chaos, the ultimate
prodigal son whose return will bring the apocalypse.
Abaddon the Despoiler may be included in your Chaos
Space Marines army of 2,000 points or more as an HQ
choice.
