most numerous and widespread. They are fearless champions of the
Emperor and unforgiving crusaders against His enemies and those
of Mankind. In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Black Templars
were forged as one of the untested successor Chapters to the Imperial
Fists Space Marines. To prove their loyalty and prowess, the new
Black Templars launched crusades across the galaxy. Ten thousand
years later, they continue to bring the sword in the name of the
Emperor.

the only two books you need to start a Black Templars army is its
Codex and the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. However, Black Templar
players might still enjoy some of the background information and
hobby material in Codex:
Space Marines, so consider picking up a copy as you amass
your Black Templar force.
