In most Chapters, as a Space Marine initiate completes
his training, he prepares for battle alongside his brother
Space Marines. His first combat experience will be in
the Space Marine Scouts, a corps of lightly armed troops
whose role is to fight ahead of the main battle lines
and clear the way for the Chapter's advance.
However, in the Black Templars Chapter, there are no
units of just Scouts. Instead, recruits go through grueling
trials onboard the ships of the Crusade fleets. If they
survive these tests of strength, endurance, martial
skill, and faith, they fight as Neophytes (what other
Chapters would call Scouts). As Neophytes, they will
fight alongside their Black Templar mentors as a part
of their Crusader Squads until they die or prove themselves
worthy in battle.
Space Marine Scouts may be added to your Space Marine
army as a Troops choice. In a Black Templars army, Space
Marine Scout models represent Neophytes and can be included
as a part of a Crusader Squad, which is a Troops choice. |
