Plastic Ogres were the perfect models to use as a basis for the Praetorian Servitors. Being multi-part plastic they are very flexible and easy to convert. In fact most of the parts for these guys ended up coming from plastic sprues.

The Imperial Guard heavy weapons sprue was full of useful pieces. The Ogryns ripper guns are autocannons with the barrel cut short. The lascannon power pack and cables make great power feeds to the arms. I even cut up the missile launcher bi-pod to make piston braces for their gun arms. Catachan sentinal chainsaws and Space Marine Servitor arms gave me my close combat arms.

The Ogres original feet needed some serious work to make them look right. I ended up squaring up their feet with a modelling knife and files. This was then bulked up with Greenstuff, using the Space Marine Servitors feet as a reference. Short lengths of plastic rod were added to the sides for the pistons.

The gut plates also needed work. A friend of mine suggested turning them into big cog shapes, perfect! This was a little tricky and involved carving them up with a knife so kids, don’t try this at home! The rough shapes were smoothed out with some Greenstuff.

The faces were the most important feature of these models, I had to make them look like cold killing machines. As well as the usual hoods I also put big ocular lenses over some of their eyes using Greenstuff. The mouths were also replaced with speakers from vox-casters and Greenstuff masks based off the Space Marine Captain.
